It would not be the first time concerns have been raised regarding the loss of jobs due to automation (all the way back to the mid-60s task forces were created in the US to oversee this issue [1 see ref]) but this time it seems very likely it will be different, because robots are no longer single purpose machines, but rather, multi skilled and capable of learning. This will inevitably lead to massive, shocking changes in developed economies as large percentages of workers lose their jobs. As of yet it doesn't seem as if any western government has made any meaningful policies to lessen the impact of this change. Experts have also raised concerns regarding the most commonly proposed solution: they believe guaranteed incomes might lead to other problems.
